Drop all the charges and cease all investigations NOW!

STATEMENT – Defend the Right to Protest

Today the Metropolitan Police has announced that no further action will be taken against nine of the leaders of the Palestine coalition and prominent supporters who took part in our protest on 18th January.

Despite this, the Metropolitan Police and the CPS are still continuing with their cases against others who took part in our peaceful protest against the ongoing genocide in Gaza, including Ben Jamal and Chris Nineham.

This is despite the government losing a landmark case in the Court of Appeal last month, brought by Liberty, challenging the use of these draconian anti-protest powers.

We demand that the CPS immediately drop the charges against all of those charged for peacefully protesting on 18 January, and the police cease any ongoing investigations.

These efforts by the state to repress our movement will not succeed.

We will be back on the streets tomorrow for an emergency protest in reponse to Israel’s attacks on Iran and the ongoing genocide in Gaza. And we will hold the next national demonstration calling for an end to all UK complicity with Israel’s oppression of the Palestinian people on Saturday 21 June.
