We oppose calls to increase UK military spending based on demands for more foreign interventions. The recent wars have been disastrous, creating untold destruction and immense bitterness against the West. Further foreign interventions can only make matters worse. Britain’s military spending is already much higher than that of other European countries. Increased military spending is particularly wrong at a time when the government is forcing through further devastating cuts in budgets for health, education and welfare.
