The international call for the London Peace Conference on Saturday 20 June has now gathered over one thousand signatures of MPs, trade union leaders, cultural figures, workplace activists and peace movement organisers. The signatories span 23 countries including Germany, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Denmark, Spain, United States, France, Great Britain, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Sweden, Switzerland and Ukraine.
International delegations are preparing to travel to London for the conference that will take place at the Central Hall Westminster. “No days passes without our leaders preparing for war, and raiding our wages and welfare budgets for increased arms spending”, said John Rees from the Stop the War Coalition. “Now is the time for the international labour movement to resist military austerity and the drive to war.”
