Day of Action on Nakba Day

The next national workplace day of action for Palestine, supported by the TUC, is on 15 May, Nakba Day.

Actions can be big or small.

Ideas include:

  • lunchtime protests
  • march to town centre from workplace
  • bake sale
  • hold a workplace meeting or discussion group
  • wear a Palestine badge to work.

Actions taking place (on 15th May unless otherwise specified):

Bethnal Green (London): Walkout and leafleting at three primary schools – Bangla Bandu, Globe Town & Morpeth.

Bristol: 12pm – 1pm outside front entrance to Bristol Royal Infirmary, and 1pm outside Wills building at Bristol University – organised by Health Workers 4 Palestine and University of Bristol Staff Stand with Palestine.

Bristol University: Film showing at 4pm.

Dewsbury: March & Rally from 6:30pm outside Dewsbury Sports Centre.

Dorchester: Stop Investing in Genocide! Divest Now! Public lobby of Dorset Council meeting from 6pm outside County Hall, Dorchester, DT1 1XJ – organised by Dorset PSC.

Greenwich: information/q&a session at 12pm in the Atrium of Dreadnought, University of Greenwich.

Hove: Static rally and delivery of petition to Peter Kyle MP at 12pm outside Hove Town Hall – organised by Brighton & Hove Stop the War.

Imperial College: 12:30pm on the Queen’s Lawn.

Levenshulme (Manchester): An installation featuring the work of twelve Palestinian comic book artists. Taking place from 15th May until 14th July at Levenshulme Old Library, Cromwell Grove, M19 3QE. Opening times are: Monday’s 10am – 12pm, Tuesday’s 5:30pm – 7:30pm, Thursday’s 10am – 2pm, Saturday’s 10am – 2pm.

Newcastle: Rally from 12pm near St Thomas Church, Barras Bridge – organised by Newcastle PSC.

Rochdale: Stall from 12:30pm outside Haven Cafe, Birch Hill Hospital, Birch Road, Wardle, Rochdale, OL12 9QB – organised by Unison Pennine Care Health Branch.

Russell Square (London): A day of reading, poetry, zines, talks and letter writing for Palestine from 10am – 4pm, outside Senate House, University of London.

York St John’s University: Join Dr. Rimona Afana (Romanian Palestinian Researcher & Activist) to discuss her research on Israel’s crimes against the dead and the unborn in Gaza. Taking place on Wednesday 14th May, 1 – 2:30pm in CC/101 – organised by York St John’s UCU.
