Thurs 10 Oct – Ceasefire Now – Stop Arming Israel: Workplace Day of Action – #CeasefireWDOA

Despite suspending some arms sales, the government continues to stand by Israel as it pursues its genocide in Gaza and escalates war throughout the region. It is time to step up our action in workplaces around the country to call for an end to that support.

The work carried out by the StWC Trade Union Network to confront political problems in our trade unions on the question of opposing arms profiteering, war and imperialism has found a strong echo in the wider trade union movement. At the start of September, the TUC voted to back our Workplace Days of Action for Palestine.

Now the UK’s largest trade union UNISON have added their support, alongside renewed support from the UCU. We call on all the unions to back our Day’s of Action for Palestine and encourage their members to get active on these issues.

The next Workplace Day of Action is taking place this Thurs (10 Oct) – join us in taking action.

On the day – Gauge what action that best fits your circumstances:

  • Gather outside your workplace for a 30-minute stoppage.
  • If this is not possible, gather at lunchtime outside your workplace with Ceasefire Now! posters. Take photos and post using the hashtag #CeasefireWDOA
  • Organise a lunchtime protest inside your workplace. Find a room you can assemble your colleagues to discuss the situation in the Middle East and after take a photo of all those gathered with posters etc.
  • If you don’t work in an industry that has lunch-breaks, find out when most are free after work to meet up to protest outside your workplace.
  • Please get permission prior to using any company/workplace resources for your action.
