Stop the War Coalition and the People’s Assembly

Stop the War is joining other peace groups in an anti-war bloc on the End Austerity Now demonstration on Saturday 20 June, organised by the People’s Assembly.

With over 70,000 already signed up to be there, this protest looks like being the largest in the UK for many years – especially after the Conservative election victory.

Despite being supported by only 24% of the electorate and 37% of those who voted, David Cameron’s new government plans to rush through the scrapping of the Human Rights’ Act and yet more anti-Muslim measures which will impact on the civil liberties of us all.

The Tories are intent on continuing their policies of making the poorest and most vulnerable in our society pay for the economic crisis created by bankers and City of London speculators, while continuing to give tax breaks to the wealthy and spending huge amounts on wars, the military and the Trident nuclear missile system.

The People’s Assembly gives below seven reasons why all of us who reject these vicious Tory policies should join the 20 June protest and consider donating to help fund the costs of the demonstration.
