Woolwich & the War on Terror, Syria and the People's Assembly

Stop the War Coalition .

1) Woolwich and the War On Terror: public meeting

The Woolwich attack appears to represent a phenomenon that was pointed out nearly a decade ago by the security services in Britain: that the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq would lead to a growing threat of terrorism in Britain. Those of us in Stop the War have long predicted that these sorts of attacks would happen because of the war on terror.

Join us for a public meeting with to discuss Woolwich and the War on Terror with Ken Livingstone, Rachel Shabi (author of Not the Enemy: Israel's Jews from Arab Lands), Lindsey German (Stop the War Coalition), Shamiul Joarder (Enough Coalition against Islamophobia), Joe Glenton (former soldier in Afghanistan and author of Soldier Box) and Mohamed Ali (Islam Channel).

The meeting is on Wednesday 26 June, 7pm at Conway Hall, 25 Red Lion Square, London WC1R 4RL.

2) Syria: Lobby your MP to oppose intervention

The crisis in Syria is escalating with every passing day.

Stop the War is supporting a parliamentary briefing on Wednesday 3rd July, 7pm in the Boothroyd Room, Portcullis House to discuss the Syrian crisis and build opposition within Parliament to the further militarization of the conflict that Cameron and his allies propose.

Please lobby your MP to encourage them to attend the briefing and to oppose British military intervention in Syria. You can contact your MP directly with our online lobbying tool: http://bit.ly/10tw96h

The briefing meeting is open to the public - so please come along. Full details of the meeting are available on our website: http://bit.ly/1bR8Vqt.

3) People's Assembly Against Austerity

While the government consigns people to real misery through benefit cuts, the bedroom tax and NHS privatisation, it reacts in amazement if anyone suggests cuts in arms spending.

Stop the War Coalition strongly believe in 'welfare not warfare', and we are supporting the People's Assembly this Saturday at Central Hall, Westminster.

Don't miss the 'Welfare not Warfare' sub-assembly, taking place from 12:45—14:00 in Side Hall 1.

The sub-assembly will feature contributions from Jeremy Corbyn MP, Lindsey German, Kate Hudson and Salma Yaqoob, and plenty of time for discussion.
