When it comes to lecturing other countries about democracy, the right of peaceful protest and freedom of assembly, the hypocrisy of Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton has no limits.
The state repression, mass arrests and police brutality shown in this short film are not scenes from Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, Syria or Iran, but from the United States, where the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement is sweeping the country. The protesters have taken to the streets to demand -- in Obama's own words about Libya -- "their universal rights and a government that is accountable to them and responsive to their aspirations."
Among the OWS demands are:
- End the wars that have cost America over one trillion dollars in the last ten years;
- Cut the military budget which in 2010 will be $900bn;
- Bring the troops home now;
- Tax the rich and the corporations instead of cutting social security provision;
- Protect workers rights, create jobs and raise wages.
