On 7 October 2012, Stop the War Coalition organised a Naming the Dead commemoration in Trafalgar Square for those killed in Afghanistan -- both Afghan civilians and British soldiers -- and launched a campaign to bring all UK troops home by Christmas. Those attending joined members of soldiers' families to deliver a letter to prime minister David Cameron at 10 Downing Street to say this futile war, which everyone knows is lost, must end now.
