This year, Tower Hamlets Council refused to allow The Big Ride, a charity cycle event for Palestinian children, access to any council park or facility to welcome the riders at their finishing point in east London.

As a result of Freedom of Information request from PSC, email correspondence between Council officers revealed that they took this decision on the basis of their interpretation of the IHRA 'working definition' of antisemitism, adopted by the Council in 2018.

This is an attack on free speech and the freedom to campaign for human rights on Palestine. There is nothing antisemitic about campaigning for Palestinian rights.

We condemn all forms of racism, including antisemitism, but are alarmed by this threat to our right to campaign for Palestine in Tower Hamlets.
