Stop Starving Yemen Protest
Thurs 21 Feb | 19:00
10 Downing Street
London
Facebook Event »

Organised by: London Students for Yemen »

We are protesting the UK government's complicity in the grave humanitarian crisis in Yemen. We are calling for an end to arms sales to the Saudi-led coalition which has been carrying out airstrikes against civilian targets in Yemen. Join us on the 21st of February and invite/share/bring your friends.

Now is an extremely important time for mobilisation and action. As the world begins to enquire into the range of human rights abuses in Saudi Arabia (largely due to the murder of Jamal Khashoggi), Yemen and in particular, the role of the UK in the murder of Yemeni civilians, has received increasing attention.

“What does a regime have to do – how many breaches of international humanitarian law must it commit? – before this Government deem it an unacceptable partner to deal in arms with?” - Brendon O'Hara MP, December 2016

Statistics show that less than 49% of the British public know that there is a war going on in Yemen. We aim to spread awareness:

Over 56,000 Yemenis have been killed due to military action and the country is currently facing what the United Nations has called the ‘world’s worst humanitarian crisis’.

As the conflict enters its fourth year, 14 million Yemenis are at risk of famine with as many as 85,000 children under the age of 5 losing their life to famine since the war began.

~As we enter our post-Brexit future we MUST put our foot down and say NO to the appeasement and soft-pedalling of murderous regimes. We are calling for an end to the sale of weapons to the Saudi-led coalition.~

London Students for Yemen is a student-led activist group to promote awareness of the suffering of the Yemeni people. We are calling for an end to the arms trade with the Saudi-led coalition and therefore, the UK's involvement in the war. If you would like to get involved, please like our page and get in touch.
