Last July, Douglas Chapman MP became the Shadow SNP spokesperson for Peace and Nuclear Disarmament, in addition to his responsibility for Defence Procurement. Conscience also recently published a report by Dr Tim Street examining the idea of the UK having a Minister for Peace and Disarmament (MPD), which Labour MP Fabian Hamilton is currently Shadow Minister for.
The panel for this event will discuss the report and examine areas including: nuclear disarmament, arms exports, defence diversification, conflict prevention/resolution and peacebuilding, as well as how an MPD could work with other government departments to implement an ethical foreign policy.
