The Big Ride for Palestine 2018
Fri 03 Aug - Sat 05 Aug
Birmingham - London

Organised by: The Big Ride »

The Big Ride for Palestine is an initiative by supporters of the Palestinian people, which combines a love of cycling with practical solidarity and awareness raising, especially around the plight of children in Gaza.

In 2018 The Big Ride will start off from the Birmingham area on Friday 3rd August on a 3 day ride, stopping in Northampton on Friday night, and then cycling onto Luton, where we’ll stop on Saturday night, prior to arriving into central London on Sunday 5th August.

We will cycle along a mix of traffic free cycle paths, quiet roads, and busier roads near towns and cities. We will stop in those towns and cities where local supporters of the Palestinian people have set up a stall, so we can take a rest and support their campaigning activity.

The Big Ride for Palestine aims to bring attention to

* ISRAEL’S MILITARY OCCUPATION of Gaza, The West Bank, and East Jerusalem - incredibly since 1967.
* Israel’s continued building of settlements on Palestinian land. All are ILLEGAL UNDER INTERNATIONAL
LAW, that forbids construction on occupied territory.
* Israel’s refusal to allow Palestinian refugees THE RIGHT OF RETURN,  a right enshrined in the United
Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
* Over 50 laws that DISCRIMINATE  against Palestinians living in Israel.

Over the 3 years since our first Big Ride in 2015, we have raised over £100,000 for the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA), which specialises in working with children who have been traumatised by living under a brutalising military occupation. In 2018 we will again be raising money for MECA.

“With every mile you ride, you are protesting against almost 70 years of Israeli ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. You are sending a message to the Palestinian people in general and to the people of Gaza in particular that they are not abandoned”.

Dr Mona El-Farra, Gaza Vice President of the Red Crescent Society

Join us on The Big Ride and show the Palestinian people they have not been forgotten.
