Bikers for Peace organize a journey to Hiroshima, Japan
in the summer of 2018, in order to attend the ceremony and memorial events
that are held for the world's first atomic bomb which was dropped on 6 August 1945
over Hiroshima city

On August 6th, 1945, an American bomber dropped the world’s first atomic bomb over Hiroshima City. The entire city was devastated by the heat and shock waves of the blast, producing numerous civilian casualties.

On this day, the Peace Memorial Ceremony (free entry) is held in front of the Hiroshima Peace City Memorial Monument erected in the Peace Memorial Park to appease the souls of those killed by the atomic bomb and to pray for eternal peace on Earth. During this ceremony, the Peace Declaration, appealing for the abolition of nuclear weapons and for the realization of eternal world peace, is delivered by the Mayor of Hiroshima City and is transmitted worldwide.

At 8:15 a.m., which is the exact time when the atomic bomb was dropped, the Peace Bell is rung and citizens, either at the ceremony, at home, or at work offer silent prayers for one minute for the repose of the souls of the atomic bomb victims and for peace.

Bikers for Peace organize a journey to Hiroshima, Japan in the summer of 2018, in order to attend the ceremony and memorial events of this tragic day. The journey will start, for the Greek bikers, from Olympia, the birthplace of the ancient Olympic Games, connecting two cities as Worldwide Symbols.

The trip with our motorcycles is estimated to last two months and the idea is to return by air to our home countries and arrange the transportation of our motorcycles by oceanfreight from Tokyo to central ports in Europe. The route will pass through central Europe (the appointment with other European motorcyclists is in Budapest), Eastern Europe, Russia (along with the Trans-Siberian railway), western Siberia, western and central Mongolia, Eastern Siberia, Vladivostok - Japan (by ferry boat).

The invitation is for all European motorcyclists in the hope of awakening consciousness for the possibility of Peace, now that the hunting of power increases the international competition and the global problems require immediate international cooperation.

Join Bikers for Peace and discover some of the most beautiful places in the world and let us unite our voices and the sound of our engines and take some action for a World Free of nuclear weapons and war.
