Latest poll: 4 out of 5 say Afghanistan war has been a pointless waste of lives

The poll in The Mirror on 24 September 2012 showed that people in Britain know we are being misled by the politicians who insist that 'progress' is being made in Afghanistan and that the war is "winnable".

Four out of five people say the war has been a pointless waste of lives and not worth the billions of pounds it has cost since 2011.

Only one in ten thinks the lives lost and the cost of war has been 'worth it'.

More than half say all troops should be brought home now. Only 30% say they think David Cameron should keep to his deadline of 2015.

The Mirror's poll confirms what Stop the War has said consistently -- this war is futile and unwinnable and Afghans and soldiers alike are losing their lives because politicians and generals would rather they died than admit that the war is lost.

This has to end now. Every death in this war -- which should never have been started, let alone continued for eleven years -- will be blood on the hands of the politicians who will not end it.

There is only one option for the British government: bring all the troops home by Christmas.
